Mr Arthur Wedderburn, 64, from Newcastle went to Manipal Hospital, Bangalore for a full face lift and decided to have some dentistry treatment done while there because it was so cost effective. Mr Wedderburn had been quoted £9,000 for a full face lift with one overnight stay but in India it cost him just £3,000 including five nights top class accommodation within the hospital. After emailing his enquiry to Manipal Mr Wedderburn organised his flight with British Airways which cost £385 and after his surgery he stayed in India for a further nine days for holiday.
“I arrived on the Wednesday morning and had my surgery the following afternoon. I found the surgeons much more superior than in the UK, they were really approachable and friendly – even the senior registrar took us out to dinner one night. Because the service was so good I enquired about having some dentistry done at the same time and got all my teeth capped for £400, which compared to the price in the UK (I’d been quoted £45 for one tooth cap) was exceptional. After staying at the hospital my friend and I booked into a wonderful Indian hotel, which cost £11 per night for a twin room including breakfast”.
